The Conference evaluation has been emailed previously.
Some very important issues were discussed regarding insurance and risk
management (Rob Low of Marsh Insurance) and the Weapons Act (Inspector Mike
Crowley WLB).
From both these speakers the messages were loud and clear:
1. Take every possible step to ensure that your range facility is physically as
risk free as possible.
2. Take very possible step to ensure that your members are shooting the events
according to the rules of those events, as issued by the controlling body of
those events.
3. For a participation to be legally recorded the event/match must be shot in
its entirety, at the correct distance, at the correct targets.
4. Ensure that your members have the required accreditation (eg holster) suited
to the specific event.

Our 2010 CONFERENCE will be held on November 19‐20
MAKE THIS A DATE CLAIMER NOW!
Two delegates from every club (Full or Partial Member Club) will be funded to
attend: travel, meals and accommodation (staying at the QRA).

MEDIA COVERAGE FOR QAPSA EVENTS:
QAPSA Management has funded media coverage for 10 events this
year: 5 Open Shoots and 5 State Championships.
Coverage has been very widespread, with good space received
in the Qld Country Life, regional papers relevant to the shooters featured, and
the Courier Mail.
Our Media Watch file is growing, with some clubs sending in
the spin off articles which appeared in their local papers thank you to the
clubs that have done this, as it helps the association assess the value we get
for this investment.
The Media Watch file was on display at the Conference.
Events covered will rotate around the zones, so different
areas/clubs will receive coverage each year.

NOTICE OF INTENT AND SANCTION APPLICATION OPEN SHOOT/S 2011
Most of our usual sanctioned events have been applied for,
for the 2011 year.
Thank you to those clubs that have attended to this well
done!
This allows us to get the event/s sanctioned and included in
the annual calendars (Pistol Shooting Qld and Pistol Australia); to give maximum
promotion via newsletters, the December 2010 QPN and the website, before the
close of the office (December 17).

GRADES
Please note new grades for 25 Yard Service Pistol: as per
page 46 of the September QPN.
Operational from 01 October 2010.

CLUB SAFE RANGE CONDUCT COURSE/PROGRAM
Our Board has recently approved a basic level club range
officer course, to fit below the current Pistol Australia accreditation.
Participants in this program will learn the necessary basics to run a range, at
club level.
The course was put together by two of our Judges: Margaret
Baker and Dale Ramm, in consultation with our Referee Council Coordinator, Joan
Yet Foy and input from several clubs.
This draft was presented to Club delegates at the Conference
and the final program will be posted to your club very soon, with a few final
tweaks to be confirmed.
This paperwork will outline the procedure for conducting the
course and registering those who have completed the course successfully, if the
club wishes to use this program.
This program is free of charge to affiliated members in our
registered clubs and can be conducted by qualified Range Officers in your club,
or the association will send a qualified Range Officer to do the job for your
club.

COACHING ESSENTIALS COURSE
Early 2011 will see our association conducting a coach
workshop, to construct a Coaching Essentials Course. Again this is a basic
course (or program), sitting below the Australian Sports Commissions General
Principles Course and the official Club and Competition Coach levels.
This course will be for everyone, not just for those wanting
to become coaches, to ensure that consistent and correct information is being
circulated throughout the state.
Those members who wish to go further in coaching will find
this a useful stepping stone to the other official coaching levels.
More information on this in early 2011.
There are also some exciting coaching developments with a DVD
and posters, and coaching for specific events in the pipeline.
Coaching will be coming to your zone, or club, in 2011‐ so
watch the club noticeboard or the Pistol Shooting Queensland website and
Calendar.
Dont forget: your club can request coaching for its members
via the Coaching Request form in the clubs Sec Manual
Again, all coaching sessions are free of charge to affiliated
members in our registered clubs.

CONFERENCE 2010
Thirty‐three clubs were represented at the Conference, with
31 of these clubs being present at the AGM.
Mike Crowley also gave some insight into the new online
policing system related to WLB.
Sue McLatchey from the Queensland Governments Department of
Communities gave a very detailed session on what grants are out there and how
clubs can go about accessing these grants.
Australian representatives Bruce Quick (2010 Commonwealth
Games), Judy Harding (Metallic Silhouette World Champs) and Brett Foster (2010
Bianchi Cup PA Team Member) all spoke about their experiences.
Our new logo was released, as per page 1 of this newsletter,
with a tag line and stand alone icon as shown below.
Logos:
To clarify: The name Pistol Shooting Queensland had been
registered with the Queensland Office
of Fair Trading prior to the AGM.
The decision to use this marketing name was approved by the
Board at the August Board meeting.
If the AGM had decided not to go with a complete change, for
the Company Ltd, the association could have still used the marketing name for
our Queensland initiatives.
The PSQ logo will be officially available for clubs to use
when we have it on our revamped website, letterheads and paperwork. Please wait
for the Associations approval before using the logos.
New Merchandise:
New merchandise was also released at the conference and will
be available to clubs, to bulk purchase if they wish, at a lower price.
Aluminium drink bottles
Stubby coolers
Pens
We will advise clubs of these prices and process next week.
DVD:
The completed promotional DVD, summarising all our registered
events, was presented to the Conference.
This DVD will be sent to clubs early in 2011 for their use on
promotional days, or educating new members.
New promotional brochures will be available for posting to
clubs early in 2011 and pull‐up banners will also be available for promo days
and events.
Equipment Control
Kits:
The kit for the Northern Zone was on display at the
conference.
This kit contains everything in the way of Range Official
equipment needed to run a sanctioned open or State Championship, and will be
available to all clubs conducting a sanctioned Open.
There will be a kit prepared for each zone, with two being
set up for the association.

Fees
The standard CPI fee increase notice of motion (for the
2011‐12 year) was on the agenda, but prior to this being put to the vote the
President stated that there was a Board recommendation that the CPI increase be
applied to the Pistol Shooting Queensland component of the affiliation fee only.
This would work out to $1.40 for seniors and .70c for
juniors.
The Board further recommended that any increase in the Pistol
Australia component of the affiliation fee be absorbed by Pistol Shooting Qld
for the 2011‐12 year.
This amendment was accepted and the motion carried.

overall the participants rate the experience as very worthwhile.

definitely helps our association maintain better informed clubs and members who
realise that they have a big responsibility to keep our sport safe, responsible
and respected in the general sporting arena.
A special thanks
to Lyn and Les Wright and Margaret Baker from the Gladstone District PC who
helped put the AGM booklets together, helped make name tags and spent hours

appreciated.

shooters, have a representative on this Council.
